What can I do to get myself a job/career that's fulfilling and gives me the flexibility and balance I'm looking for?
Figuring out what you want your career to look like can be a stressful and long-term task. It is equally as daunting too. Because most of the time, we want our decisions to be solid and don't want to keep dwelling between creating ideas and turning them into something concrete.
As much as we would like to just start working on our goals, we get stuck between a million different problems and their possible solutions. Because that is how our brain is programmed. It doesn't like to jump into something unless it's sure about the results. And that is what keeps us from achieving our goals.
The only way you're going to fail is if you don't even start
We all have this inner voice inside our minds that activates in times of uncertainty. Whenever we think of something that's exciting but requires hard work, it would be quick to tell us a million different scenarios where that would be impossible. And make us doubt our abilities.
You won't be able to do it. It's going to take forever. You have already wasted so much time, and this is just going to add to that.
WHAT IF YOU FAIL?
That's where most people would give in. But if you have a clear goal in your sight, then you're on the right path. And you've already taken the first step. The rest will take a streamlined set of processes and belief in your abilities. Which is as important as having a goal.
Believe in your abilities
You can't take control of your life until you know WHY you're able to. And we often focus so much on what we can't do than what we can. But that's not what you need to keep moving forward. Instead, you need a way to face your fears and turn your weaknesses into your strengths.
So, if you either want to switch from an unfulfilling job to a job that you love and makes you feel satisfied. Or if you want to start your own business and switch from being an employee to an employer. Or if you want to grow your business to the point where you've always wanted it to be, then all you need to do is to keep moving forward in the RIGHT direction.
Look for the right opportunities
Surrounding yourself with the right people is equally as important as having the right ideas. You're going to need the people that push you to give all you've got. Rather than those who would play the same character as your inner critic.
Because let's face it. Not everybody will understand your passion or see what you're able to see. And having the right people around you will open up ways for new opportunities as well. That's what like-minded people do. They support each other because they can resonate with each other's ideas.
Plan accordingly and learn from your mistakes
Lastly, plan smartly. Set goals that would deliver the best possible results in the least amount of time. This is the step where you would require perseverance. And no matter how much you want to do it all by yourself, you will need help from others to reach your goal.
There's no right or wrong way when you start launching your ideas. So be consistent, and take those steps. Learn from your mistakes. Having a Plan B does not mean that you don't believe in yourself. It means you are aware of the possibilities that may or may not go in your favor. Keep in mind why you're doing what you're doing. And always have the end goal in sight.
